Carrigallen Tidy Towns
Welcome to Carrigallen. Our Moto is to continue to make Carrigallen a place with pride, a place of beauty, a place which encourages visitors and indeed people who are driving through, to want to stop and stay a while. We continue to encourage more volunteers to join our committee and help make our community a better and more beautiful place to live. Please take the time to download our Action Plan and if you have any suggestions which would benefit our village - they would be appreciated.

Clean Up Time:

On Thursday 25th April 2013 in conjunction with the Vocational School pupils along with their teacher Ms Commyns for School Green Flag is doing a clean up on the Mohill Road. The time is 11:30am start. Volunteers are also involved. While Foiroige under their leaders did a litter pick up on Mohill Road, we l had this clean up arranged prior to our meeting on Wednesday night last. They are washing and cleaning seats along lake front in preparation for repairs. Volunteers are also involved in the drive to get our town a much better place.

Next week children from the National School are doing their clean up on the Mass Path and on the road to Bredagh Estate, and down to the well area. Again this is all part of An Taisce National Spring Clean up Week during the month of April. Residents who live on the Killeshandra/Arva road and the Longford road will also have a clean up day get rid of litter, and areas which need attention. We will keep you posted. We are running a poster competition for the children in the National School, again to make them more aware of litter and why we should recycle and what it means to our environment.

Everyone can do their bit to make their community a better place. If you see litter or recycling material in your area or along the road you too can do your bit to help our drive to improve our community. We should all be aware tidy towns is not just the actual town. All approach roads , housing estates, places of interest in our locality i.e. the Holy well, Margarets Place, the Mass path, the back walkway to the town well. TheTidy towns competition is very wide ranging from general appearance to the environment, Hertitage areas, biodivirsity recycling and volunteers making that difference.
